International outgoing academic mobility (also “student exchange” or “exchange program”) is the movement of students to study for a certain academic period: a semester or an academic year to a foreign partner university with the obligatory transfer of courses in the form of educational credits to KBTU. The possibility of sending students to study at partner universities for academic mobility depends on the results of the competition for academic mobility, available places at the partner university, and is carried out at the expense of:
- Student's personal funds
- The student bears the costs for the visa, flight, accommodation, meals, but not for tuition fees at the partner university. Payment for the semester takes place at KBTU as usual, within the framework of the contract for education.
- Can apply bachelors of the 2nd and 3rd year of study, and master students of the 2nd semester of study in the scientific and pedagogical direction. The exchange is carried out starting from the spring semester of the 2nd year of the bachelor's degree or in the fall semester of the 2nd year of the master's degree.
- Requirements: At the time of application - GPA at least 2.5, English language proficiency level at least B2 (indicated in the transcript) or a valid IELTS 5.5 certificate. In the absence of confirmation of B2 English level, you can register for the Englsih language audition using the link from the call for applications and confirm the required level of English language proficiency.
- Required documents: Transcript in English (for completed semesters starting from the 1st semester), a high-quality scanned copy of the passport, a certificate of English proficiency if necessary (provided by the School of Natural and Social Sciences after successfully passing the audition).

- Republican budget funds (MSHE RK)
- For the 2022 calendar year, 8 places were allocated for KBTU in European universities (for 1 student 261,375 tenge for a flight, 928,200 tenge for accommodation, 53,550 tenge for insurance, 40,800 tenge for a visa) and 2 places in the universities of South-East Asia (for 1 student 665,975 tenge for a flight, 1,326,000 tenge for accommodation, 42,925 tenge for insurance, 26,350 tenge for a visa). Funds spent in excess of the allocated amount for each category of expenses are carried at the student’s own expenses. It is necessary to submit all reporting financial documents on the expenditure of funds to KBTU after returning to the Republic of Kazakhstan and return unused funds to KBTU.
- Only bachelors of 2-3 courses studying under the state educational grant can participate.
- Requirements: At the time of submission GPA at least 2.5, English language proficiency level at least B2 (indicated in the transcript) or IELTS 5.5. Additional testing to confirm the required level of English proficiency is not carried out.
- Required documents: Application for participation; official transcript in English (for completed semesters starting from semester 1, provided by the Registrar's Office); high-quality copy of the passport; an IELTS certificate of at least 5.5 or a certificate of English proficiency (provided by the School of Natural and Social Sciences if the transcript indicates a level of at least B2); medical certificate (for those traveling abroad) in the form No.072/y; if available - documents confirming the family having many children/absence of parents/student's disability.
- All documents are filed in a plastic folder with a transparent top (on the title page - full name, year of study, program, phone number are indicated) and submitted to the Office of KBTU.
- The terms of the competition depend on the date of allocation of grants from the MSHE RK.
- Erasmus+ Scholarship
- KBTU cooperates with several European universities within the framework of the Erasmus + program.
- The announcement of the allocated scholarships is sent to KBTU schools, depending on the area of cooperation with a European university within the framework of Erasmus +.
- The list of documents is the same as in the category “Student’s personal funds”.
Additional information
星空无限传媒 who do not have academic and financial debts are allowed to be sent to study. A student on a paid basis is obliged to pay for studies at KBTU in advance according to the cost of tuition.
After the placement of students and receipt of an invitation letter from the partner university, the Department of Internationalization (DI) is provided with:
- Application for a leave from KBTU for a semester, addressed to the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs.
- Individual curriculum. The selection of subjects must be agreed with the dean of the KBTU school. From the list of subjects provided by the partner university, it is necessary to choose compulsory subjects similar in content, which should have been taken in the semester in which the mobility will be carried out; Elective subjects can be matched with any but corresponding to the type of subject of choice (general education / basic / profiling). The number of credits should be optimally equal to the number that needs to be taken in the upcoming semester according to the Working curriculum. In case of a discrepancy between the disciplines / number of credits, the student is responsible for taking the disciplines upon return, if necessary – on a paid basis.
- Learning agreement. The template is provided by the partner university.

Upon returning to KBTU, DI is provided with:
- Application for returning at KBTU,
- Transcript from a partner university,
- Financial documents for reporting on mobility (if mobility was carried out at the expense of a grant from the MSHE RK).
Credits are recalculated by the dean's office in accordance with the grades of the partner university after they are adapted to the KBTU grading system.

- 星空无限传媒 of partner universities can study on exchange at KBTU after being nominated by the international department of their university.
- The student is sent a list of disciplines, after which the student needs to send an application form, a copy of the passport and a learning agreement, previously agreed with the dean's office of the KBTU school.
- Within a month, the student receives an invitation letter from KBTU and an invitation approved by the migration service of Kazakhstan to apply for a visa (if the student is from a country whose citizens require a visa).
