{spoiler=05B072100 «Chemical Technology of Organic Substances»}

The program of SCE has passed international accreditation IMarEST (Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology, Royal Engineering Council, UK) and is licensed by the international agency BTEC, and is also recognized as the best educational program in Kazakhstan over the past 8 years, according to the IQAA rating (Independent Agency for Quality Assurance in education).

The purpose of the program: the training of highly qualified specialists in the field of modern technologies for oil and gas processing, polymer materials, the synthesis of organic substances, petrochemistry, focused on solving the problems of innovative development of the most important areas of the petrochemical and oil refining industries.

The content of the educational program:

The main criteria for completing the educational process is the mastering by students of the required volume of the theoretical course of study, their full implementation of the working and individual curriculum in accordance with the requirements of state and international standards: the mastering at least 143 credits of the theoretical course of study; passing educational and industrial internships, dual training; passing the State exams in the History of Kazakhstan and in the specialty; preparation and defense of a graduation project.

The curriculum, in addition to the compulsory and basic disciplines, includes the following speciality disciplines:

  • Introduction to Chemical Engineering
  • Oil Refining Technology
  • Catalysis in petrochemicals and oil refining
  • Industrial ecology of oil refining and petrochemicals
  • Plant Design
  • Modeling of chemical-technological processes using modern software packages (MathLab, AutoCad, AspenHysys, Python)
  • Production of polymer materials
  • Technology of Fine Organic Syntheses
  • Financial analysis and project evaluation
  • Corrosion protection of oil and petrochemical equipment
  • Dual education.

The program provides an opportunity to choose alternative disciplines by specialty.

The program allows to acquire professional knowledge and engineering skills in the field of:

  • modern technologies of oil refining and petrochemical industry for the production of organic substances, polymeric materials, products of organic synthesis, surfactants and other target products;
  • modern chemical technologies for processing hydrocarbon raw materials into target products, reagents, and new functional polymeric materials;
  • catalytic processing of hydrocarbon gases, catalysis in petrochemistry and oil refining;

the fundamentals of designing and equipping enterprises, modeling chemical and technological processes with AspenHysys, ChemCAD, AutoCAD, MathLab modeling software packages.

Dual system of education

A dual education system has been introduced at the Department of Chemical Engineering, which involves students' training both in class and in industry, i.e. the dual training system strengthens the role of the employer in the learning process and contributes to the maximum demand for graduates. Our students pass dual training at oil refineries in Kazakhstan (Atyrau Refinery, Pavlodar Petroleum Refinery, PetroKazakhstan), Romania (RomPetrol), etc.

Career

The graduates of the Department of Chemical Engineering are highly demanded in the labor market of Kazakhstan and successfully work in national and foreign companies: KazMunaigaz, Tengiz Chevroil, NCOC, Petrofac (UAE), Atyrau Oil Refining, Shlumberger, Halliburton, Maersk Oil , Medherant (British Pharmaceutical Company), as well as continuing their studies for master's and PhD degree in the world front universities: KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden), Warwick University (Great Britain), Tokyo Institute of Technology (Japan), etc.
