The specialty 6B071105 "Nautical sciences" is a set of documents developed and approved by the University considering market requirements labor on the basis of the state compulsory standard of higher education and the requirements of international documents for the standards of training, certification and watchkeeping for seafarers. The program complies with the International Convention on the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for seafarers, 1978, as amended (STCW-78).

The objective of this educational program is: forming common cultural and professional knowledge and skills of the graduate in accordance with the requirements of SMSE for the group of educational programs 6B066 "Maritime transport and technologies" in the direction of the educational program 6B071105 "Nautical sciences", which provide the solution of professional problems in the process of carrying out professional activities in the conditions of the technology of the educational process for high-quality training of the graduate in this direction.

Educational program is 240 ECTS credits, which include lectures and tutorial classes, internships (including 365 days of professional practice on ships of international shipping companies), and defense of the diploma project.

A Bachelors in the specialty "Nautical sciences" can perform the following types of professional activities:

- organizational and managerial;

- production and technological;

- technical and operational.

The following areas of professional activity can be distinguished:

  1. Marine vessel management;
  2. efficient use of materials, equipment, appropriate algorithms, and programs for calculating process parameters;
  3. performance of modeling and full-scale experimental work to assess the strength and reliability of marine equipment in operational conditions.

Goals and objectives:
The purpose of this program is to train highly qualified specialists in the field of operation of ship electrical equipment and automation. The training focuses on mastering modern diagnostic, maintenance, and management methods for electrical and automated ship systems, ensuring their reliability, safety, and efficiency.

Admission to KBTU (tuition-based or government grant) is based on the results of the Unified National Testing (UNT).

State Grant Admission Rules

Admission to KBTU on a state educational grant is based on an application and the UNT certificate scores.
Applicants must take the UNT in 5 subjects to be eligible for the grant competition.
Grants are distributed based on the general UNT ranking.
Note: Accelerated study (reduced duration) on a state grant after college is not available.

Tuition-Based Admission Rules
Graduates of APEC College (APEC PetroTechnic Higher College) can apply to the following programs at KBTU:
● Petroleum Engineering

● Automation and Control

● Information Systems

● Chemical Technology of Organic Substances
(subject to compatibility between their college specialty and the chosen KBTU program)
UNT and international certificates are not required for these applicants.

Graduates of other colleges applying for a related program on a tuition-paying basis must provide one of the following English language certificates:
● IELTS: minimum 5.5

● TOEFL iBT: minimum 46

● STEP KBTU: level B1 or higher
