On August 13, 2025, the Kazakhstan-British Technical University (KBTU) and the private foundation “Almaty Air Initiative” (AAI) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.

The partnership is aimed at promoting collaboration in sustainable development, environmental protection, and improving air quality in Almaty. The key areas include:
- implementation of joint projects on air pollution monitoring and analysis, identification of pollution sources, and assessment of health impacts;
- development of ESG expertise and climate initiatives within KBTU’s academic and innovation environment;
- organization of joint events such as hackathons, urban eco-labs, awareness campaigns, and more.

Both parties expressed confidence that combining the efforts and expertise of the two organizations will help draw attention to the issue of air quality in Almaty and contribute to the development and implementation of effective solutions to improve the situation.
